Bias in AI models today is a genuine concern as it can have a devasting and oppressive impact on various customer groups. The problem resides hidden in the data used to create the AI models. Therefore, it is critical to better understand the impacts of bias and address the issue. It is a complex problem with no easy solution, but it is essential to identify, rectify and eliminate bias as soon as possible.
A study around bias has found three different dimensions to bias: design bias, contextual bias, and application bias. Professor Katina Michael is one of the study’s authors and was the guest for our podcast.
Katina Michael is a professor in the School for the Future of Innovation in Society and School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence at Arizona State University.
